ABOUT US

Walking Wet Noses — formerly Kim’s Urban Hounds — has been caring for pets in Fairfax, Virginia since 2011. Our name has changed, but our team, our heart, and our commitment to every pet haven’t.

We provide professional dog walking, pet sitting, cat and small animal care, overnight house sitting, pet taxi services, and veterinary visit support throughout Fairfax, Oakton, Vienna, Chantilly, Centreville, Burke, Reston, and surrounding neighborhoods. We also specialize in senior pet care and special needs pet care — because every pet deserves a caregiver who understands their unique needs.

Whether it’s a daily walk, a week of vacation visits, or long-term support for an aging companion — we show up with patience, attention, and genuine love for what we do. Your pets are family. We treat them that way.

Backup sitters mean your visit always happens

Each client is assigned a team which means that we are able to provide a backup sitter in case the assigned sitter is delayed on a prior pet care visit with a sick pet, gets a flat tire, or if they themselves are out sick or need a day or two off. We coordinate the backup care to ensure your pet gets the care you expect, and if your pet needs to meet new sitters ahead of time, we will arrange for an introduction before a new backup is needed.

Experienced managers step in when needed

Kim is an experienced animal caregiver, and will assist sitters in case of emergencies or in unusual situations. Always a text or call away, she can provide advice, meet the sitter on the job if an extra pair of hands or eyes is needed, and ensure that owners are notified of any issues. Our sitters and clients appreciate the extra and knowledgeable layer of support that our team provides.

Proactive attention to details

Our sitters and managers get to know your and your pets’ routine, and notice if things are out of the ordinary. Is Fido feeling less energetic than usual? We will let you know. Accident in the house? We clean it up as best as possible. Running low on grain or dog food over an extended vacation? We will pick up more.

As the heart of our business, all members  of our dog walking and pet sitting service team are experienced pet owners and care providers. Each team member is covered by the company Bonding and Insurance policy, and has passed a national criminal background check and completed a Pet First Aid and CPR course. It is in our and your pet’s best interest to provide a trustworthy caregiver, so we offer flexible schedules and competitive pay to attract and retain the most qualified, reliable, and stable team of walkers and sitters.

Walking Wet Noses Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, LLC is licensed in Fairfax County, based in Fairfax VA, and is insured and bonded by Travelers Insurance.

Kim Davis

Responding to Northern Virginia’s continuing need for professional pet care services, Kim Davis founded Walking Wet Noses Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, LLC. in her small two-bedroom condo in 2015. Kim was a one-woman show, running the operation as sole proprietor and sole employee. Thanks to her strict professional standards and knack for hiring devoted animal lovers, Walking Wet Noses rapidly expanded and grew to offering care to over 130 clients.

Along the road to this amazing success, Kim cultivated a formidable expertise in small business ownership, including personnel management, systemization, marketing, business planning and development, and human resources, all in a concerted effort to render her business interactions efficient and effective for employees and clients alike.

Now a leader in the pet care industry, Walking Wet Noses Dog Walking and Pet Sitting is committed to ongoing quality service to our two and four-legged clients.

As a new client, you will have a meet and greet with Kim Davis, the owner, or an experienced team member. She will meet with you and your pets, review their routine, and determine the best match among our sitters for your primary and back up caregivers. You will be asked to provide us with access to your home in the form of two keys or one key and one of the following: key in a lockbox, a keypad code, or a garage door code. Upon booking a regular (on-going) midday walk schedule, we can provide a lockbox free of charge, or you can purchase one from us for $15. Once the paperwork is completed, you’ll be set up in our system and given access to your personal client portal.

Kim manages the business daily, working with the entire team to ensure that they have everything they need to do their daily visits: keys, pet care instructions, special notes for the day. Using an app, all team members can see their schedules for the day complete with Addresses, Special Request Notes, Pet Information (including feeding and medication requirements), and phone numbers. Our sitters use the app to check-in and out of a visit and to mark it as complete and add notes for the office and notes for the client as needed.

The check-ins and completions are monitored throughout the day so we can ensure everyone is running on time. If team members need planned time off or run into a last minute problem (like a flat tire), Kim will coordinate with other team members to ensure a backup walker is scheduled and your pets’ visit is completed. You will also receive a text or email post-visit Report Card after each visit, adding to your confidence that your pets have been take care of.

As a client, you can review your schedule, request additional services and cancel services through the client portal. You can also reach out via text or email to our office as well as send a message directly to the assigned walker for the day. We encourage use of the portal to ensure tracking of a request from the time it was made all the way to its completion and billing. Clients can review past services, see the status of requests, review notes made in past visits by sitters, and review invoices and pay online.

Walking Wet Noses. thanks all the wonderful companies and organizations that work to make life better for all the pets in Fairfax County!

Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART) Fairfax Station, VA | hart90.org

HART holds a special place in Kim’s heart — two of her own beloved dogs found their way home through this incredible organization. Founded in 1990 and based in Fairfax Station, HART is a no-kill rescue dedicated to saving abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats across Northern Virginia. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who might otherwise be overlooked — and they do it with the kind of care and commitment that stays with you long after the adoption papers are signed. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a new family member, HART is a wonderful place to start.

Homeward Trails Animal Rescue Fairfax Station, VA | homewardtrails.org

Based in Fairfax Station, Homeward Trails has been rescuing dogs and cats from under-resourced shelters since 2001 — saving more than 30,000 animals and counting. They pull from high-risk shelters where euthanasia rates are devastating, place animals through a dedicated foster network, and never give up on an animal that deserves a chance. If you’re thinking about adding a furry family member to your home, this is a rescue worth knowing.

Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) Aldie, VA | foha.org | 703-385-0224

Since 1972, FOHA has been one of Northern Virginia’s gold-standard no-kill rescues. Located in Aldie, VA, they provide rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abandoned and abused dogs and cats across the Northern Virginia and DC metro area. Their motto says it all: “Home with us until they’re home with you.” Over five decades of dedication — and they’re still going strong.

Fairfax County Animal Shelter Two Locations | fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices Michael R. Frey Campus — 4500 West Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA | 703-830-1100 Lorton Campus — 8875 Lorton Rd, Lorton, VA | 703-324-0299

Fairfax County’s only open-access municipal shelter takes in 4,000 to 5,000 animals every year. With two convenient campus locations, they offer same-day adoptions, low-cost vaccine clinics, a pet food pantry, and spay/neuter support for families in need. This is our county’s safety net for animals — and they rely on the community to make it work. If you’re local, this one’s in your backyard. Show up for them.

Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (FFCAS) Fairfax, VA | ffcas.org

FFCAS is the independent nonprofit fundraising partner of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter — filling the gaps that county budgets simply can’t cover. Every dollar donated goes directly toward improving the lives of shelter animals while they wait for their forever homes. Small gestures make a big difference here, and every contribution counts.

KIM D

Owner, Dog Walker, Cat & Small Animal Care, Pet Sitter

My name is Kim Davis and I am the sole proprietor and top dog of Walking Wet Noses. My love for animals began at a very early age and it is what sparked me to enter the wonderful world of Dog Walking & Pet Care. There hasn’t been a time in my life when pets weren’t a part of it. Pets are my passion! Today I am a proud pet Mom to 5 dogs; all of which are rescues from various Rescue Organizations. They are my heart and soul and have me wrapped around their little paws. My heart also belongs to two cats; one that was rescued from a vet clinic and a second one who was born in a barn.

I understand the importance of trusting someone to care for your “kids”. Over the years, friends and family have entrusted their precious pets in my care because they trusted my abilities and knew that I would treat their pets as I would my own. Spending my days with cats and dogs is the ultimate job and most days it is kind of hard to even call it a “job.” Dog Walking and Pet sitting is my profession, my livelihood and my business.

BRANDON N

Dog Walker, Cat & Small Animal Care, Pet Sitter

Hey my name is Brandon Nedved and pets have been a big part of my life ever since I was a kid. I have always loved the idea of having a pet companion and the love and loyalty they bring. My first pet ever was a bearded dragon named bobo.

As bobo grew older my love for pets grew stronger. I have always enjoyed animals and watching their natural behavior so when I was old enough to start working, I jumped on any opportunity involving animals.

The joy they bring is nothing like anything in this world that it can be compared to. I now have my weeks filled with joy working with animals day in and out.

Tremell M

Dog Walker, Cat & Small Animal Care, Pet Sitter

Hello! My name is Tremell and I’m a proud animal lover as well as a proud staff member for ‘Walking Wet Noses.’ I have a dog, Golden Retriever and pit mix, named Sparky and he’s been in my life for about 7 years. My family got him while he was a puppy and through the years he is known to be the life of the party. Raising Sparky showed me the importance of having patience, it showed me just how smart dogs are, and it showed me how to be responsible.

I am currently in school studying business along with communications. My plan is to use my platform to help the unheard be heard in a peaceful way. I also really enjoy volunteering, I really believe that we as a people can get things done if we unite and help others. In my free time, I do just about anything that can help me express myself artistically whether that be art, poetry, photography etc.

Julie H

Cat & Small Animal Care, Pet Sitter

Hi! I’m Julie and I’ve been walking dogs for my entire life! I’ve always loved animals and being outdoors. My mom has always had allergies, so my favorite part about going to my friend’s houses when I was younger was getting to play with their pets!

I respect animals and never want them to feel uncomfortable or scared. So I like to let them lead the walk and go where they want, and I will follow. 🙂

Your pet will be safe with me!
